The Rev. Frederic A. Miller is interim Rector at the Church of St. Jude, Wantagh. Previously, he served as priest at St. George’s, Hempstead; St. John’s, Cold Spring Harbor; and Christ Church, Oyster Bay. Before entering seminary, Fred was a research executive at Morgan Stanley for 19 years and a journalist for 15 years. He was warden at St. Stephen’s, Port Washington, for seven years, and chaired the 2008-9 bishop search committee. He has degrees from the General Theological Seminary, Oxford, and Princeton. He and his wife, Katherine Hill-Miller, a
professor at LIU-Post, live in Port Washington and have one son, Christopher.
Shira Fishkin, Music Director at St. Jude’s, is our organist and also a lifetime pianist and flutist. She previously played piano at St. Francis Catholic Church in Greenlawn, NY for 6 years. She accompanied their choirs and directed a women’s choir singing religious music. Her work includes collaborations with Guy Brewer, organist and choir director at Zion Episcopal Church in Douglaston, NY. Shira is presently creating organ arrangements of pieces by Bach, Villalobos, Purcell and Respighi for a concert series. She can be found in the organ loft practicing on random days of the week.
